Underground poker rooms and unregulated poker sites in New Jersey
There are certainly underground poker rooms in New Jersey. Some offshore poker sites also target players in the Garden State. Avoid these poker rooms, be they live or online, as they are unlicensed, and you will not benefit from any consumer protection laws if you play at them.
Most unregulated, offshore poker sites have stopped accepting players in New Jersey after they were issued with cease-and-desist letters. For example, Bovada, Ignition Poker, America’s Cardroom, BetOnline, and SportsBetting.ag no longer accept customers in New Jersey, although some smaller sites may still try to entice NJ players.
Unfortunately, offshore sites cannot be trusted to keep your data safe or pay out when you request a withdrawal. Steer clear of unregulated sites and stick to legal online poker rooms and land-based poker rooms in New Jersey instead. With so many legal options, there is no reason to take a risk.
