A new $550 million casino hotel recently broke ground on the south end of the Vegas Strip. The owners of Dream Las Vegas put shovels in the ground for a new property that’s currently under construction at 5051 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
Dream Las Vegas will be located across the street from Mandalay Bay and Bali Hai Golf Club. The closest landmarks on this side of the street are the Pinball Hall of Fame and the massive Harley Davidson dealership.
Dream Las Vegas will be one of the only hotel casinos seen when visitors go to the iconic “Welcome To Las Vegas Sign.”
The new 20-floor property is on schedule to open in late 2024 and will undoubtedly be another hotspot for the US gambling mecca. The project has changed slightly since first being announced in 2020.
An independent hotel in the center of US gambling
Dream Las Vegas is part of the Dream Hotels Group family and will be developed by Shopoff Realty Investments and Contour. The new property will bring the unique lifestyle of Dream Hotel properties around the world to Las Vegas.
At the groundbreaking, Shopoff Realty Investments’ President and CEO William Shopoff said the following:
“This project represents a new type of Vegas hotel experience, offering tourists and locals alike a unique boutique hotel option on the Las Vegas Strip. We are thrilled to break ground on Dream Las Vegas and watch as it energizes the southern end of the Strip.”
There are 15 Dream Hotels around the world, including locations in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and Bangkok. There are another 25 properties in development. Dream Las Vegas will be the first hotel and casino operated by the company.
Dream Hotel Group is one of the fastest-growing independent lifestyle hotel companies in the world. The company will bring some fresh ideas and concepts to a part of Las Vegas, where most casinos are operated by billion-dollar corporations.
Going inside Dream Las Vegas
Dream Las Vegas will have 531 hotel rooms. While this is small for a Vegas Strip casino, this will be one of the company’s biggest hotels.
There will be a number of amenities most would expect in a larger hotel-casino on the Vegas Strip. The property will include seven dining and nightlife venues.
One of those venues will be a third-level resort pool and day club. This floor will also be home to a 24-hour diner.
Like most modern hotels, Dream Las Vegas will have a lobby bar. The property will also offer a craft coffee cafe and gelateria on the street level.
There will also be a sporting club, boutique nightclub, and an unannounced signature restaurant.
Dream Las Vegas casino on the Las Vegas Strip
The casino will offer 20,000 feet of gaming space. There will also be two bar and lounge concepts on the gaming floor.
This will be one of the smallest casino floors on the Vegas Strip. For comparison, the 20,000 square feet of gaming is similar to the cozy casino at The Cromwell.
Peninsula Pacific Entertainment will oversee the casino at Dream Las Vegas. The company that operates gaming at casinos in Iowa, Virginia, and New York was purchased by Churchill Downs Incorporated last year.
Peninsula Pacific Entertainment will keep its name after the sale closes. Dream Las Vegas will be the first in the Silver State for the casino operator.
Dream Las Vegas will have 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space that includes a 5,000-square-foot ballroom. There will also be an intimate 90-seat live entertainment theatre.
New Las Vegas hotel with a different aesthetic
All Dream Hotels properties are unique. The Las Vegas property will follow suit.
Dream Las Vegas will be a 20-story luxury hotel tower located across the street from Mandalay Bay and Bali Hai Golf Club. This will be one of the first hotels people see when visiting the “Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.
The boutique hotel and casino will exist on a relatively small plot of land. Similar to The Cosmopolitan, Dream Las Vegas will feature a wide range of venues that are spread out vertically instead of across one floor like most Vegas Strip hotel-casinos.
There will be plenty of fresh air at Dream Las Vegas, thanks to the roof decks and terraces included in the hotel design. The contemporary design will feature a glass and metal facade, spacious double-height terraces, and oversized windows.
Unlike The Cosmopolitan’s sharp-corner exterior design, Dream Las Vegas will have rounded corners that provide a different look at feel. This will allow Dream Las Vegas to have a more streamlined exterior presentation.
Dream Las Vegas will be different than anything in the area. While it may not be tall enough to change the Vegas Strip skyline, it will add to the allure of the south end.
