Ocean Casino Resort plans about $20 million in entertainment, dining and hospitality upgrades for the upcoming summer season, as Atlantic City casinos face mounting competitive pressure from new and expanding gaming destinations in nearby markets.

NY expansion raises stakes for Atlantic City casinos

The resort will roll out live performances, seasonal pop-ups, and expanded wellness and travel experiences as it looks to strengthen its position along the Jersey Shore at a time when regional competition is accelerating.

New York is rapidly emerging as a major rival. The recent expansion of full-scale casinos in the New York City area — including large-scale developments and new table game offerings — is expected to reshape the regional gaming landscape and draw customers who have historically traveled to Atlantic City.

Industry experts and officials have warned that increased competition from New York could significantly impact Atlantic City’s market share, with some estimates suggesting notable revenue declines in the coming years if operators fail to adapt.

Against that backdrop, Ocean Casino Resort’s latest investment reflects a broader push among Atlantic City operators to reinvest in amenities and experiences to remain competitive.

Officials say the upgrades are expected to benefit the resort not only during the summer but throughout the year, positioning it as a year-round destination. Bill Callahan, the resort’s general manager, said in a news article by Silive.com:

“This summer’s investment introduces new experiences, partnerships and entertainment that give our guests more reasons to visit.”

Pop-up experience tied to America’s 250th anniversary

The resort plans to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with a temporary pop-up dubbed “America’s Birthday Bar,” part of a broader strategy to create unique, time-sensitive attractions that differentiate the property from competitors.

The venue will feature themed décor and specialty drinks created in collaboration with state-based beverage partners. The pop-up is scheduled for June and will be located in the 1927 Lounge.

Live entertainment anchors summer strategy

Live entertainment remains a central part of the resort’s strategy to attract visitors who might otherwise choose closer-to-home options as new casinos open in neighboring states.

Concerts and comedy shows are scheduled throughout the summer, with highlights including Diana Ross, Tim Dillon, Lenny Kravitz and comedian Sebastian Maniscalco. In total, 15 performances are planned.

The resort recently upgraded the sound system at Ovation Hall to enhance the guest experience ahead of the shows — an investment that underscores how operators are leaning into entertainment as a key differentiator.

Partnerships expand beyond traditional gaming

Ocean Casino Resort is also expanding partnerships to diversify its offerings beyond traditional gaming, another strategy gaining traction across Atlantic City as competition intensifies.

The casino will partner with ShoreShotIV to offer on-site IV therapy treatments and work with MakeUp Eraser on a summer package that includes spa services, wellness offerings and branded products.

Additional collaborations include a co-branded product with Jurgy Beef Jerky and cocktail offerings with Philadelphia Distilling. A new Mrs. Fields location is also expected to open later this year.

These types of partnerships reflect a broader industry shift toward non-gaming amenities as casinos seek to broaden their appeal and capture new customer segments.

Beachclub, drone shows lead seasonal lineup

The resort has scheduled a range of outdoor events designed to capitalize on peak-season demand while reinforcing Atlantic City’s appeal as a summer destination.

Guests can expect weekly drone shows throughout July, themed around the nation’s anniversary. A lineup of DJs and performers, including Steve Aoki, will appear at HQ2 Beachclub.

A water ice festival featuring regional vendors is also planned.

Retail, gaming and transport upgrades continue

The resort also plans to expand its retail space, with longer-term plans to grow high-limit gaming areas — moves that align with broader efforts across Atlantic City to modernize facilities and compete with newer properties in surrounding markets.

Enhancements to guest transportation are also in the works, including helicopter service through Blade. Promotional gaming events and sweepstakes will continue throughout the summer.

As regional competition continues to intensify, industry analysts say reinvestment strategies like these may prove critical. Atlantic City casinos have already faced declining profit margins in recent years, even as revenues remain relatively stable, highlighting the growing pressure on operators to evolve.
