What games can I play?
Currently, the only games available on the PA iLottery site are instant scratch games. However, as part of the PA Lottery expansion, the lotto also rolled out Keno and virtual sports at nearly 10,000 retailers.
PA iLottery online scratch-offs
For now, the Pennsylvania iLottery’s offerings only include online instant games. These games are similar to a scratch-off ticket you would buy at a retailer. There are some additional bells and whistles though.
These games feature a graphic interface rather than a traditional scratch-off ticket. However, the games are virtually the same. The object of a scratch-off or instant lottery ticket is to match prize amounts or specific symbols leading to a prize.
There are currently more than 50 scratch-offs available at retailers in Pennsylvania. New ones are added and titles change regularly.
Some of the most popular scratch-offs in PA include:
- $3 Million Mega Multiplier
- $100,000 Wish List
- Crazy Wild Ca$h
- $1 Million Pennsylvania Payout
- $1,000,000 Silver & Gold
- Money Multiplier
Currently, there are 11 online games available for players:
- Foxin’ Wins
- Super Cash Buster
- Big Money Slingo
- Big Foot Reveal
- Crossword Cash
- Cash in the Lamp
- Super Gems
- Robin Hood: Prince of Tweets
- Monster Wins
- Cash Buster Towers
How to sign up for the Pennsylvania Lottery online
In order to buy lottery tickets online, you’ll need to sign up for an account with the PA Lottery website.
Like other state online lottery sales before it, PA players must be 18 years or older, have a valid PA address, and be within PA state borders in order to play online.
First, players need to fill out the Easy Registration Form on the iLottery website. The form takes just a couple of minutes to fill out. Players select a username and password, provide some personal details, and use any relevant bonus code.
How to make a deposit online
There are four options to deposit money onto the PA iLottery website. They are:
- Visa Debit
- Mastercard Debit
You’ll note that credit cards are not a deposit option for the site. Once you log in to your account, there will be a “Deposit” button in the top-right corner of your screen. All you have to do is click, then follow instructions on the next screen.
When it comes to security, your deposits are done using advanced encryption technology to ensure your data stays safe and protected.
What happens if I win?
Like most other states with online lottery sales, wins up to $600 are automatically deposited into your Pennsylvania Lottery account. However, anything above that will likely involve a more intricate process. Amounts greater than that are reported to the IRS by PA Lottery.
Additionally, $2,500 is another. Any prize of that amount or greater is subject to additional processing to determine if the winner owes any back child support.
Pennsylvania online lottery and the law
In December 2011, the US Department of Justice released a legal opinion on the Wire Act stating anything outside of sports betting events falls outside the act’s reach. This gave states the all clear that online lottery tickets were legal.
In October 2017, Pennsylvania passed a comprehensive gambling expansion package that including legal and regulated online gambling. This included online lottery sales.
Sales begin on June 1, 2018.
Oversight of PA Lottery online
The Pennsylvania Lottery has been around since 1972. The state government mandates that all of its proceeds go to programs for elderly residents.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board does not oversee the Pennsylvania Lottery. However, it does fall under the purview of the PA House of Representatives’ Gaming Oversight Committee.
Are the games fair?
Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko is responsible for the overall management and operation of the lottery in PA, including assuring the accountability and integrity of the organization and all its games.
The Pennsylvania iLottery also utilizes random number generators and periodic audits of results to ensure complete fairness and compliance with state regulations.
Benefits of the online lottery for PA
The PA Lottery reported ticket sales of more than $4 billion for its 2016-2017 fiscal year. More than $1 billion went to the state’s lottery fund.
All of its proceeds go to programs for elderly residents in PA.
The Department of Aging receives 78 percent of its budget from the lottery. The Office of Long-Term Living, receives four percent of its funding from the lottery fund. Programs like shared-ride and free-ride for seniors are entirely funded by the lottery.
In the meantime, the lottery funds close to half of the property tax and rent rebate program for seniors.
Do online lottery sales take away from regular lottery sales?
No. PA Lottery sales reached $4 billion in the fiscal year 2016-2017 and are expected to grow even further in the first fiscal year featuring online ticket sales.
The overwhelming majority of the sales still occur at thousands of PA Lottery retailers throughout the state. Online sales are only expected to add to them.
What can we expect from the PA online lottery in the future?

Jackpots start at $40 million. Tickets are just $2 each. Drawings are Wednesday and Saturday nights. Powerball is known for its massive jackpots. The largest ever recorded was $1.6 billion.
