The DraftKings Sportsbook is now live in New Jersey. Visit the DraftKings Sportsbook mobile app here for full details.

The first New Jersey mobile sports betting app has reached a rather significant milestone just one month after launch.

On Sept. 7, DraftKings Sportsbook marked the one millionth bet placed on the platform. Already averaging over 200,000 bets a week, DraftKings Sportsbook hit the one million bets mark just as the NFL season kicked off.

Ahead of the milestone, the mobile sports betting app gave away $35,000 in guaranteed promo bets as an incentive. That included $5,000 in bonus bets to the bettor who placed the 999,000th bet and $10,000 in bonus bets to the person who placed the one millionth bet.

DraftKings Sportsbook awarded additional milestone bonuses along the way. Bets against the spread, totals, money lines, parlays, prop bets and in-play betting were all included in the tally.

DraftKings Sportsbook offers bets on sports including:

  • NFL
  • College Football
  • MLB
  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Soccer

1,000,000 bets and counting

According to a counter on the DraftKings website, the mobile sports betting app has booked upwards of 1,006,000 bets as of Sept. 7. Not bad considering DraftKings Sportsbook launched on Aug. 6, 2018.

Since DraftKings SportsBook launched, a slew of other New Jersey mobile and online sportsbooks have gone live.

This includes a mobile sports betting app from competing daily fantasy sports-turned-sports betting operator FanDuel Sportsbook that launched Sept. 1, plus mobile sports betting products from:

  • William Hill US
  • playMGM Sports
  • SugarHouse Sportsbook
  • Caesars Sportsbook
  • 888 Sportsbook

The first to market

DraftKings Sportsbook was not only the first mobile sports wagering app to launch in the New Jersey gambling market, but the first to launch in the US outside the state of Nevada.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that it was the first to book one million bets, considering it launched at least three weeks ahead of all competitors.

The company surprised everyone by becoming the first mobile sports betting product to market in the same week MGM Resorts International promised to do so. MGM’s playMGM Sports mobile sports betting app did not go live until three weeks after the DraftKings Sportsbook launch. With increased competition from other operators, it will be interesting to see who is leading the pack halfway through football season.
