Gladiator by BetSoft stands out from other similarly themed slots for its great attention to detail and flawless 3D graphics. It also boasts a few creative, exciting bonus features and rounds. This 5×3 slot may appear plain at first, but I eventually realized that that’s just a touch of Roman-era elegance covering all the exciting features.
Indeed, I had quite some fun and a bit of luck playing it. Here is my complete review of the Gladiator slot from BetSoft.
First impressions with Gladiator
I didn’t expect much from the Gladiator slot experience at first, considering its mostly plain interface. However, this is a case of books and covers, as I quickly realized that the slot has a lot to offer.
The 3D graphics are unmissable, of course, as is the vast variety of classic gladiator symbols. I must note that this game has arguably more symbols than other gladiator-themed games, which speaks volumes of its attention to detail.
It also doesn’t take long to realize how rewarding the game can be. Indeed, I landed a few small wins during my first dozen or so spins. Moreover, I landed a few of the bonus features and even activated the bonus round.
There’s more to the Gladiator slot than meets the eye. Simple, fun, smooth, and rewarding are the best words to describe it.
Where can you play the Gladiator slot?
Betsoft games aren’t exactly everywhere in the sweepstakes casino world. But I found Gladiator at both Rolla Casino and MegaFrenzy while writing my Gladiator slot review.

Visuals and presentation | 4.5/5
BetSoft games are renowned for their 3D graphics, and the Gladiator slot isn’t different. The visuals are spectacular, with the symbols looking like they were copied right out of a movie. Notably, it has a wide variety of symbols, including two distinct gladiators, horses, gold bags, gold chalices, shields, swords, tigers, and, of course, the coliseum.
The game’s interface is simple and mostly plain, which can be a bit disappointing at first. All you have is the grid and the spin button on the right side. However, it is elegant once you realize all the exciting features beneath, and it goes well with the reels’ smooth flow. Interestingly, the main bonus game features a scene of an animated fight between two gladiators.

Role of sound in Gladiator | 4.0/5
Like the interface and overall presentation, the soundtrack in Gladiator is simple. In fact, there’s no soundtrack at all, but rather sound effects that only play when the reels are moving. Interestingly, the effects become louder and more exciting when you land winning combos or activate bonuses. You certainly won’t feel overwhelmed by the sounds when playing the Gladiator slot, which can be an issue with other slots.
Gameplay journey in Gladiator | 4.5/5
The Gladiator slot is pretty straightforward, and I dove right into the action and started spinning, hoping for a win. It wasn’t long before I started winning, which I attributed to its medium volatility. However, most of the wins were either modest or small, which also mostly comes down to volatility.
Besides regular wins, the bonus features also seem easy to come by. It wasn’t long before I unlocked the “Click-Me” round, which also resulted in a modest reward. Shortly after that, I landed the right combo of symbols to unlock the Gladiator Battle, which was cool to watch. I was also lucky to land the special gladiator symbol in the middle reel, which turned it entirely wild. However, I didn’t manage to land the special Princess symbol.

Bonus features through my eyes | 4.0/5
I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the creative bonus features in the Gladiator slot, despite its mostly plain presentation. Wilds, a pretty standard bonus feature, come in two types triggered by two special symbols, which I find interesting.
The princess symbol appears at the top of the reel and sprinkles petals that make all the symbols below turn Wilds that double the winnings from any combo they form.
The gladiator symbol transforms the center reel into marble, after which a gladiator appears in front of the screen and strikes the marble pillar, turning the entire reel Wild. However, it only works when it lands in the center reel.
Besides Wilds, there are also two bonus games, both of which are quite creative. The “Click-Me” round reveals hidden rewards, which can keep on adding up. The Gladiator Battle round is more exciting, as two gladiators fight it out to the death, and you keep all the loot.
Notably, while the bonus rounds are creative and even entertaining, they are still somewhat limited. For example, a bonus-buy feature is lacking, and there are no free spins.
Key features and bonuses of Gladiator
| Feature/Bonus | Description | Impact on Gameplay |
|---|---|---|
| Princess Wild | The princess appears on top of the reel and turns all the Wild symbols beneath Wild with a x2 multiplier. | Turning more symbols Wild increases the likelihood of forming more winning combos, and the x2 multiplier doubles your wins. |
| Gladiator Wild | The gladiator symbol appears in the middle reel and turns it into marble before a gladiator walks up and transforms it entirely Wild. | Turning the middle reel entirely Wild increases the likelihood of forming more winning combos, and the animated scene of a gladiator walking in front of the reel is entertaining. |
| Click-Me | Land three door symbols to activate the “Click-Me” round, whereby you click the closed doors to reveal hidden, instant cash prizes. The prizes keep coming until the word “Collect” appears beneath the last prize. | The hidden cash prizes can add up to a substantial amount. |
| Gladiator Battle | Land the two gladiator symbols as well as the coliseum next to each other to activate Gladiator Battle. The grid disappears, and you must choose between a gladiator and a villain. The two then battle it out, and every hit your hero/villain lands or blocks unlocks an instant cash reward. This goes on until one of them dies. Notably, every battle is different. | The cash rewards can add up to substantial amounts, depending on how well your hero/villain fairs and how long the battle lasts. The fights are also entertaining to watch. |
Balancing risk and reward | 4.0/5
The Gladiator slot has medium volatility, which means that its risk level is neither too high nor too low. Wins are quite regular, although that can change depending on your luck. As such, I recommend keeping your bets low or moderate. You should also take full advantage of the bonus rounds, although activating them is beyond your control.
- Spectacular visuals with sharp animated symbols and moving scenes.
- Creative bonus rounds that make the gameplay more exciting and can result in substantial rewards.
- Plenty of winning opportunities from the two distinct Wild features.
- Medium volatility with regular wins in the base game.
- No bonus-buy option.
- No free spins.
Final thoughts on Gladiator
The Gladiator slot from BetSoft is fun and full of exciting surprises. Don’t be fooled by its mostly plain interface – underneath lies bonus features and even a couple of animated scenes. More importantly, it has medium volatility and can be very rewarding if you are lucky.
Final score | 4.2/5
The Gladiator slot has a few impressive bonus features, but it could do more. Some players may also find its simple interface somewhat plain.
Who would enjoy Gladiator?
Fans of gladiator movies and the Roman Empire would enjoy the Gladiator slot. Overall, any slot enthusiast looking for something simple, creative, and rewarding would enjoy it too.
Would I play it again?
Of course, I’ll keep playing the Gladiator slot as long as it is rewarding. I love how easy it is to unlock the bonus rounds, which I’m banking on for a big win.
