The Tropicana online casino was one of the first available in the New Jersey market when it debuted in November 2013. It has become one of the most successful as well, thanks to its large selection of casino games and plenty of helpful features.

Gamblers have plenty of ways to use this money as well. The online casino has 133 slots and 21 variations of other casino games.
Tropicana Casino Online gaming options
Tropicana Atlantic City Online Casino might not be as big and bold as its land-based partner, but it’s making every effort to bring the feel of one of the country’s top-rated casinos to people’s homes. The site currently boasts 133 slot machines and 21 different casino games. Consequently, this makes it as big as any online casino on the market.
The online slots include several progressive jackpot games, branded games you might also find at Tropicana Casino & Resort Atlantic City. Also, you’ll see that several games are exclusive to Tropicana Atlantic City Online Casino.
The online casino also features a variety of classic table games found at most land-based casinos. You can play single-deck blackjack, multi-hand blackjack, roulette, baccarat and more.

Players simply need to validate their Trop Advantage account in person at the Trop Advantage center inside the casino to ensure points earned online accrue on the correct account.
Tropicana Online Casino history
The 24-hour internet gaming operation runs through a partnership with Tropicana Casino & Resort Atlantic City, and leading iGaming software designer and developer Gamesys.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement licenses and regulates the site.
Gamesys is a UK-based software developer and operator. It runs a number of online social and real-money gaming, casino, bingo and slot sites throughout the UK and Europe. It also has partnerships with a handful of New Jersey online casino sites. Gamesys partners with several other online gaming software developers, including IGT and NetEnt, to bring a wider variety of casino games to the New Jersey market.
Land-based New Jersey casino partner
Based on the Boardwalk, Atlantic City’s Tropicana Casino & Resort is one of the state’s longest-serving gaming venues. First opening its doors in 1981, the casino now sits where the Ambassador Hotel once stood.
Left derelict, the building was subsequently purchased by Ramada for $35 million. Initial plans to renovate the hotel were rejected, prompting Ramada to extend the Tropicana Casino brand. Taking inspiration from its Las Vegas venue, the hotel chain opened Tropicana Atlantic City in 1981.
The original property featured 521 rooms, gaming floor, and a 1,700-seater showroom. Various upgrades and extensions took place throughout the ’80s and ’90s, leading to a rebranding in 1996. Reflecting its evolution, the property is now a complete entertainment venue.
In May 2005, Ramada subsidiary Aztar Corporation was acquired by Columbia Sussex for $2.75 billion, leading the New Jersey Casino Control Commission to review Tropicana’s license. Citing an “abysmal” history of regulatory compliance, the new owners were denied a gaming license. That incident resulted in the venue being shuttered until a consortium led by Carl Icahn saved it.
The casino was brought under the umbrella of Tropicana properties in Nevada, Mississippi, Indiana, and Louisiana, and soon became part of New Jersey’s online gaming scene.
With an active presence in Atlantic City, Tropicana received one of the state’s first online gaming licenses back in 2013. Going live on November 23 of the same year, Tropicana Online Casino incorporated Gamesys software to provide a selection of table games, slots and bingo.
As the online platform grew to offer more than 200 games, developers created two mobile apps. Available for iOS and Android device, Tropicana mobile casino features over 100 slots as well as blackjack, roulette, video poker and keno.
Enter Eldorado and licensed sports betting
In 2018, Tropicana was bought by Eldorado Resorts. This move separated the brand from its national namesakes but allowed it to operate alongside a new network of US casinos.
Almost as soon as the $1.85 billion takeover was complete, Tropicana became a fully licensed sports betting venue. Partnering with William Hill in September 2018, the company’s Boardwalk property accepted its first sports bet on October 25 of the same year.
In taking control of Tropicana’s assets, Eldorado cut staff at TropicanaCasino.com. The move led to fears the site would be taken offline. However, it remains active to this day and, through Eldorado’s partnership with William Hill US, online sports betting is still a possibility.
Even without a virtual sportsbook, Tropicana remains one of New Jersey’s leading venues with over 2,400 live gaming options, entertainment provisions, and a thriving online casino.
Latest updates at Tropicana Online Casino — June 2019
Tropicana’s online sites—Tropicana and Virgin—may be very slow to add games, but it doesn’t hurt their bottom line. They’ve held steady with $3 to $4 million in income every month for over a year. Maybe those great weekly and monthly promotions help a bit? Our guess is that they do. If only they’d add sports betting, maybe those numbers would tick up a bit.
The online casino added 1 new slot in the last month—Scudamore’s Super Stakes—and it’s the most popular new slot available right now, having debuted in at least 11 NJ online casinos in May. That addition brings Trop’s gaming library up to an even 205, including 221 slots.
Speaking of slots…Wonderland, an exclusive Jackpot Progressive slot, is now up to over $500,000. Based on the Alice in Wonderland books, it’s a fun slot with a pretty hefty prize just waiting to be won.
And, as usual, Tropicana debuted their Summer of More promotions. Available in June are:
- Backyard Bonuses: Earn a Playback Bonus of 10%-20% on your Total Net Loss from June 3 to June 6.
- Suite Destination: Win a trip to AC, complete with suite, $100 slot credit and $100 food credit. Wager at least $50 for an entry into the prize draw from June 3 to June 9.
- Beat the Heat: Three Happy Hour sessions will be held from June 7 to June 9, and if you wager $20 on your favorite game during those times, you can earn a 10%-20% Playback Bonus each day.
Additional NJ free-play offers
We think all players should give Tropicana a try, but with so much bonus money on the table, there’s no reason not to give other online casinos a shot as well.
