When I heard about a site in my state that offered casino-style games infused with live horse racing, I had to learn more. It turns out that each wager at Horseplay (formerly b spot) is combined with live horse racing, determining payouts from the action on the track. It’s a unique concept, but how exactly does it work? And does it stack up to other sites with online casino-style games? (Or, to use one of my patented dad jokes, does Horseplay belong in my stable of go-tos?)

I spent several days playing on the site to find out the answers to these questions and more. My comprehensive review is below, but here is the TL;DR: Overall, Horseplay is a site that I enjoyed enough to come back to from time to time, but it has some limitations, mostly based on its model.

My verdict on Horseplay

I live in the beautiful state of Wisconsin. I love playing slots and table games online, but we do not have real-money online casinos in my state (though I write the governor daily).

We do have sweepstakes casinos, which I enjoy immensely, especially the OG sites like Chumba and Pulsz Casino. The biggest drawback to these sites, though, is that I have to wait up until I hit a redemption minimum.

So Horseplay, with its parimutel powered gaming model (or “reveal gaming,” as the site likes to call it), is a nice alternative. It is a real-money model, so you can deposit and withdraw as you please. And since the games are revealing the results of a horse race instead of true casino games, Horseplay is perfectly legal for me. It is safe and legit. Plus, it offers a lot of promos for players.

That said, Horseplay does have some drawbacks compared to the alternatives, mostly due to its model. There are not a ton of games that run on that model, and those that do are put out by lesser-known studios. So, you won’t find as much variety. And the games (and thus the site as a whole) comes off as visually outdated compared to other choices.

So, will I keep playing at Horseplay? For me personally, I will, but it will be more like once a week instead of daily. And of course, the choice you make will depend on what you look for in a site. That’s why I will dive into all the specifics below.

How Horseplay actually works

Before evaluating Horseplay, I need to explain that it is not like other sites. Horseplay calls itself reveal gaming. Other people might use the term parimutuel powered games. Either way, Horseplay is not a sweepstakes casino or social casino. Thus, Gold Coins and Sweepstakes Coins are not used at Horseplay. Instead, players purchase Credits.

When I purchase Credits, I automatically place a group of bets on live horse races. The bet types and horses that users are placing bets on can be found by clicking “See Wager Details.” If players are unhappy with Horseplay’s initial selection, they can hit “reshuffle,” and a new selection will be chosen. For example, here are the wager details I got when I made a purchase:

The bet group is confirmed and finalized by clicking “Confirm Location & Wager.” Horseplay then places these bets, and Credits can be used to reveal payouts while playing games on the site. (This is why Horseplay often refers to its games as Reveal Gaming. The games are really just revealing the results of a horse race.) Each payout is moved to the player’s cash account, where it can be withdrawn or used to play again.

Note the disclaimer that Horseplay gave me at the top. Because the results are dependent on a horse race outcome, you may have to wait for that race to finish. However, to counteract that, Horseplay offers something called Instant Play, where you are guaranteed to get to play right away. Details on the website are scant, so I don’t really know how it works logistically. I only know that it’s available in all states where Horseplay operates, except for Colorado. (I only know that, though, because I asked customer support. The Horseplay site directs you to the terms and conditions, but that section only tells you to contact support.)

Here’s the bottom line: outcomes are tied to live racetrack data instead of a software RNG, letting Horseplay stay compliant as a horse wagering site while giving players who enjoy casino-style games something fresh to try. (Indeed, you can even play in states where Horseplay does not operate as long as you PURCHASE the credits while you are in a legal state.)

Under the hood, Horseplay is definitely a bit more complicated than players familiar with other types of online gaming might expect, but functionally, it doesn’t look or feel that different while playing.

To qualify, simply create an account and deposit a minimum of $10 using any banking solution available at the casino. In return, players will earn a minimum of $10 worth of Bonus Credits and a maximum of $250 worth of Bonus Credits.

The welcome bonus is subject to a playthrough requirement of 10x, which is much larger than the 1x wagering I’d typically expect to find from a welcome offer like this. Users must satisfy this playthrough requirement within 30 days for withdrawals to be permitted.

Horseplay doesn’t offer a no-deposit bonus, which is a miss for me. I would have expected something to at least give the model a try.

That said, keep an eye on the promotions tab. Seasonal FreePlay or leaderboard events often surface, even if there’s no permanent free-bonus offer.

The welcome bonus available at Horseplay is an average to below-average offer that may be useful for new players to get a feel for the site. I will add that you don’t need a Horseplay promo code to get the offer.

Purchase match deals are common among other sites that offer casino-style games, but they are typically offered with a much lower (1x) wagering requirement. For me, the 10x wagering requirement is too high for a wagering requirement.

Bonuses for existing users

Where Horseplay lacks in its welcome bonus, it makes up for in the existing player offers. From the All Play All-Star Rewards scheme to the Wild Weekdays Tournament, I’ve listed some of the existing player promotions below. In my experience, I didn’t need a Horseplay promo code to take advantage.

The selection of casino-style games available at Horseplay is decent, offering around 150 titles across all categories, with more added on a regular basis. This is on a par with a lot of other platforms out there, where the goal is to give a lot of options without overwhelming a player or cluttering a mobile screen. Are there platforms with more games and more variety? Yes. However, there are also plenty of options with fewer games as well.

Most of the games available at Horseplay are slot-styled, as is the case at most online gaming sites. But there is plenty of variety in mechanics within the slots, including Hold’N’Win, multiple jackpots, and more. And there are some non-slot games, including roulette, video poker, Plinko, and an instant-win style game that I enjoyed called Espado do Oro. That said, you are not going to find an overwhelming number of game types here. And you will never find live dealer games because they simply do not fit with the live horse racing model.

The games I played at Horseplay (all the ones I mentioned above, plus a few slots) were all very fun. Honestly, they felt like playing on other sites I have played on. My main complaint is just that visually, the graphics were lacking compared to the competition.

RTP and volatility

RTP numbers in the traditional sense are irrelevant at Horseplay. Again, the game mechanics are just revealing the results of horse race betting. And since you can’t customize your betting the way that a sharp might do, my best assumption is that you should expect to get back from the games the average winnings of a horse race bettor, which are estimated at 75-85%.

For this reason, I did not see RTP numbers listed on any games. And when I reached out to Horseplay on the topic, the representative I spoke with did not offer any specifics (as you will see in my review of customer service below.)

I would think that volatility numbers would be similarly moot. The volatility to every game is the same: it matches the volatility of horse race betting. But some games I played did have icons reflecting volatility levels, such as Coin Nonet Clover:

I’m not sure if that simply represents the volatility inherent in horse race betting, or if it’s a leftover icon from if the game is offered in different contexts.

Horseplay’s list of available software providers is small due to the site’s unique model. You won’t find the big names here, like Light and Wonder or IGT or Relax Gaming. Instead, the providers are more obscure studios, such as Magic Horse, OddsWorks, and Kalamba games.

And even within that, I get a bit confused. Take the Coin Nonet Clover game I referenced above. That game is available on the TaDa Gaming website. But on Horseplay, it is attributed to Magic Horse. I am guessing that this is a licensing deal of some sort to take the look and feel of that game and convert it from a game that relies on a Random Number Generator to one that reveals the results of a horse race. But I’m not sure. And I didn’t get an in-depth response from customer support on the question, either.

The bottom line is this: Horseplay runs on a different model than other online gaming sites. So it is going to have to rely on lesser-known studios. That doesn’t really bother me that much because the games all play fairly similarly. As I have mentioned above, they just may not always provide the same graphics as the big names.

As you can see, at Horseplay, a minimum deposit limit of $10 and a maximum deposit limit of $500 are enforced across all banking solutions. No fees are charged for deposits or withdrawals.

All winnings accrued from the initial Credit purchase will travel into the player’s Cash Account. Players can choose to either wager these payouts or withdraw to their chosen banking solution.

Horseplay has four payment methods available. Huge real-money casino operators tend to have more, but four is pretty standard amongst smaller online gaming products like this. I would love to see the addition of eWallets such as Skrill and Apple Pay, but Horseplay recently added PayPal as an option, so that’s a good start.

Horseplay is operated by Game Play Network, Inc. Horseplay verifies the identity of each player before they can purchase coins to play games with. The site requires the Social Security Number of every sign-up to confirm their identity, verify play eligibility, and prevent fraud.

Where is Horseplay legal?

Horseplay operates under advance-deposit-wagering (ADW) rules, so availability is broader than typical real-money casinos yet narrower than sweepstakes sites. As of June 2026, you can open a Cash Account in the following states:

AL, CA, CO, DE, FL, KS, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NY, OH, OK, OR, RI, SD, TN, VT, WI, WV, WY

Note that California and New York are both on the list. Since those states have no real-money online casinos and have recently outlawed sweeps site, Horseplay is a nice alternative that is perfectly legal.

Customer support is one of the most important features at any top-performing casino-style site. It’s always nice to know that there’s a solid, reliable way to get helped if needed.

Horseplay’s customer support is adequate, but it could be improved. Players have access to email support and FAQs fairly easily, but both of those are only okay, in my experience.

The best option, live chat, is really hard to find.

Let’s look at each one separately.

FAQ

The FAQ page at Horseplay is pretty good. I would say a little above average for an online gaming site. There are over 100 topics covered, and the search function is adequate. The answers aren’t super thorough, but they are something.

Email

When you visit the Help Center/FAQ page through the hamburger menu that contains your account information, the bottom of the page directs you to email customer support, with a promise of 24/7/365 support:

I thought, “Great! This means I will get a response quickly!”

I was wrong.

I instantly got an email to confirm Horseplay had received my request, but I didn’t get a reply to my actual question for almost exactly 8 hours:

The response is kind of typical customer service response: it answers my question and gives a lot of additional detail and links I didn’t really need.

But I did notice the link to 24/7 live chat, and that was interesting.

Live chat

It wasn’t until that email that I realized that live chat existed. I tried it out, and I was connected to a human (Laksheta H) almost instantly.

Laksheta answered my questions about the game providers. When I asked about the kind of RTP players could expect, the answer was less forthcoming:

It wasn’t until a few hours later that I discovered that there is also a live chat link buried in the footer of the Horseplay site. Interestingly, it works differently. I first chatted with an AI assistant, but I was quickly patched through to Remi H when I asked for a human. I asked about volatility, and Remi’s answer was similar to the email: he gave me a lot of links about the parimutuel powered game model. However, he kind of skirted my question.

Still, overall, in the future I will use live chat for anything I need. I just wish it was easier to find.

Overall, Horseplay is fairly easy to navigate, but a few improvements would definitely help.

First, the good. Horseplay is an intuitive site to navigate in many ways. The top navigation buttons make it easy to find the most common pages.

Similarly, the games are well-organized into categories, such as “New Releases,” “Hold & Win,” and “Multi Way.” Since the game selection isn’t overwhelming, these categories make it really easy to find games you might like. And if you want further narrowing, you can search for a title.

I was pleased to find that all tested games ran smoothly on desktop and mobile browser. Each title was quick to load and seamless to play, functioning exactly how you would hope and expect from a top-level casino-style site.

If you prefer an app, you can use that if you use an iOS device. Since I am an Android guy, I didn’t have that luxury. The user reviews on the app are quite positive, though.

So, how could Horseplay improve? I have a few suggestions. I have already discussed how hard it was to find live chat, so that would be one.

Similarly, it is hard to find the withdrawal button. Several buttons in the main lobby will take you to a deposit page. In fact, when you are playing a game, you can hit the stack of chips icon in the upper right and get a “Quick Credits” option:

But finding the withdrawal option is much harder. It’s buried inside the hamburger menu in the upper right, which holds your account information:

To be fair, this is definitely not just a Horseplay issue. Pretty much every online gaming platform I have tried has a 5:1 Deposit-to-Withdrawal button ratio. But still, it would be nice to see Horseplay buck the trend.

Final thoughts

If you live in a state like California or New York and are looking for a safe, legal way to play casino-style games online, Horseplay is a no-brainer to me. It is a safe, legal alternative to driving to a retail location while still offering real-money gambling. You won’t find as many games as a land-based casino, and the RTP is probably slightly lower. But still, it is far better than illegal, offshore sites, which have unfair policies and no oversight.

If you love horse racing, is Horseplay a good fit? I would say no. Honestly, the system is really meant for people who don’t want to get into all the intricacies of placing win, place, show bets and understanding the parimutuel structure. If that’s your jam, you are better off using an app like FanDuel Racing.

What about if you are in a state like Wisconsin, which has a few different options? Then I would say that it depends on what you want. If you want live dealer or a huge variety of games, there are better options than Horseplay. But if you prefer a smaller library that is easier to navigate, Horseplay is a great choice. Similarly, if you want to be able to deposit and withdraw freely without the mechanics of Sweeps Coins, Horseplay is a great choice.

For me, I will definitely come back to Horseplay when I am looking for some different games. I don’t see myself playing there as much as my favorite sweeps casinos, but I will be checking on how my horses are doing every week.
