My verdict on Scarlet Sands Casino

My first impression of Scarlet Sands was positive: the lobby is rich, loads fast, and the layout falls together nicely. This sweepstakes casino platform has a good user flow and about 1,600 games, of which most are slots.

Bonus-wise, I’d say Scarlet Sands falls in the middle. I got 250,000 Gold Coins (GC) at sign-up, plus percentage-match bonuses of up to 23,000,000 GC and 800 SC. Impressive, right? But if you’re a free-play only type of person, you probably noticed the lack of free Sweepstakes Coins (SC) on the sign-up bonus. I know I did, but Scarlet Sands threw me a curveball; two, in fact: 100,000 GC and 1 SC when I verified my email, plus the same bonus for following its page on Facebook. If you add it all up, it gets closer to what most leading social casino brands offer.

On the negative side, there isn’t a help center, the terms and conditions are as basic as legally possible, and the sweepstakes rules page isn’t much better. To get information about the redemption process, you either have to make a purchase or insistently ask the support agent via live chat (which, thankfully, is available 24/7).

I did have fun, though. I even ranked #2 in a tournament during testing, which shows just how immersed I was in the platform. If you’re a slots fan like me, you’ll have a blast, for sure. Still, the fact that the information is so bare bones is hard to ignore.

My real experience using Scarlet Sands Casino

In terms of practicality, the game categories are excellent, and the search bar works well and quickly. I used the free GC bonuses to play a good range of games and could get a feel for the volatility of different titles, earn points toward the loyalty progression, and even participate in a tournament without making a purchase.

However, the first 15 to 20 minutes on the site were a lot to take in and adjust to. There are too many moving parts, literally. The rolling banners are strangely fast; the notifications icon shakes every few seconds; a sliding notification pops in from the side each time someone wins a jackpot; you’re looking at the games trying to find what to play, and suddenly you’re hit in the face with a pop-up… It’s not a smooth welcome for those who are easily distracted (e.g., me). But once you get used to it, the platform is very good.

Overall score3.75 / 5Fun platform, but transparency and redemption limit its appeal

Scarlet Sands sign-up bonus | 3.5 / 5

The sign-up bonus is 250,000 GC, which I received automatically upon logging in for the first time after registration. I didn’t need to use a promo code, but if you have one, you can activate it on the promotions page.

I didn’t receive any free SC in that initial bonus, so, at face value, Scarlet Sands is behind the competition. I got 2.5 SC at sign-up from LoneStar and McLuck, and WOW Vegas gave me 5 SC. In fact, there are very few platforms that don’t include free SC upfront.

But, if you look at the bigger picture, this platform isn’t as stingy as it seems. I got 200,000 GC and 2 SC simply for verifying my email and clicking the pop-up to follow the brand on Facebook. Altogether, I got 450,000 GC and 2 SC during my first visit to the site – much more competitive than at first impression.

The site also offers a bonus on the first five purchases: 50%, 60%, or 100% match. The first purchase bonus is 100% up to 900,000 GC plus 60 SC (for $29.99, discounted from $59.99). My only issue with this is that there isn’t a price tag on the purchase bonuses 2 through 5 before you make a purchase. I’d like this information to be readily available.

How did I use my Scarlet Sands sign-up bonus?

I started with the free 450,000 GC to test the platform without pressure, and it gave me room to try dozens of games. I managed to reach close to 2M GC from that starting point; a win in my books.

The first thing I did on the site was opt in to the Fire Balls jackpot. Without taking any extra steps, each game I played automatically earned points in the Mystery of the Sphinx tournament.

I played multiple NetGame titles like Pure Luck 27 and Money Hive 50 Hold ‘n’ Link. The first gave me 50 spins with no wins, but my luck changed in the second, and I hit two jackpots. Every single time I hit a bigger win, I got a pop-up inviting me to switch to SC play. It didn’t matter how many times I clicked “play for fun” on these pop-ups; they kept coming back after a win, breaking the game’s flow and feeling unnecessarily pushy.

The bonus, and subsequent wins, lasted long enough to try games from Betsoft, Tom Horn, Mancala, classics like Hot as Devil, and even more original titles like Wild Weather (which looks like a weather app, by the way). I even ranked second in the tournament and won 1M GC, so the free GC you receive is enough to play deeply, compete, and win.

On the other hand, my 2 SC didn’t last very long. I played 16 rounds on Yommi Rush at minimum spin amount, and puff, gone.

Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of fun, and it’s the main thing I can ask from free-to-play platforms like this one.

Prize likelihood at Scarlet Sands | 3 / 5

Realistically, the sign-up bonus alone isn’t enough to redeem a prize.

You need to have at least 100 SC in your balance, play them through once, complete KYC, and make a purchase before you can redeem. Unless you’re very lucky, it’s unlikely you’ll manage to do that with the 2 free SC.

There are ways to increase your SC balance for free, though. The AMOE gives 1 SC per valid postcard, the referral bonus pays 20 SC after your friend spends $19.99+, and tournaments offer prize pools up to 150 SC.

The progressive jackpots can also award SC, but you contribute to the pot with every spin, so it’s a matter of balancing risk and reward here. Compared to other sites, Scarlet Sands’ redemption structure is pretty standard, but it’s not beginner-friendly.

Did I actually get real cash prizes?

No, and the main reason is simple: reaching 100 SC within a short timeframe is hard unless you’re actively making purchases or you hit a significant jackpot.

As mentioned, I started with just 2 SC from the sign-up-related bonuses, and my 16 rounds on Yommi Rush were enough to wipe them out.

Albeit not uncommon, the minimum redemption limit here is on the higher end of the spectrum. This doesn’t really matter if you’re in it only for the GC play, but if your goal is to redeem prizes, you’d have a better chance on other platforms. For instance, at Pulsz, McLuck, and MegaBonanza, you can redeem gift cards for just 10 SC.

I think Scarlet Sands would benefit from lowering this limit, even if by instating gift card redemptions (currently not available).

Website and app experience | 3.8 / 5

There isn’t a mobile app for Scarlet Sands, but mobile usability is one of the best I’ve tested. The site is responsive and works wonderfully on both big and small screens.

I personally enjoyed the mobile gaming experience more than the desktop one, as there are fewer distractions. The menu, rolling banners, and shaking icons are tucked away, making the whole experience less visually noisy.

Gaming-wise, the experience is very similar across all devices and I didn’t notice any difference in available games or features, which is always a plus.

What purchase methods does Scarlet Sands Social Casino accept?

Scarlet Sands is a sweepstakes casino, and you can play for free with Gold Coins without ever spending money. In case you opt to buy a bundle, the platform accepts PayPal, Visa, and Mastercard. Packs range from $4.99 to $499.99, and all include bonus SC.

When it comes to redemptions, you can request your prizes via:

  • Push-to-card (up to 3 business days)
  • PayPal or Visa (24 hours to 7 business days)
  • ACH (up to 10 business days)

Remember that you must have at least 100 SC (played through once), complete the KYC, and make one purchase before you can redeem.

As with other features on the platform, the payment options cover the basics, but they’re far from the leading brands (e.g., WOW Vegas accepts 10+ methods).

Did I like the app?

There’s no standalone app, but I spent a good amount of time playing on mobile, and overall, I liked it.

The site feels optimized for smaller screens, and I preferred the mobile experience in some ways because it felt less chaotic than the desktop version. With the main menu hidden away and fewer banners in constant view, it was easier to focus on the games and actually have fun without feeling like every corner of the screen was fighting for my attention.

From a pure gameplay perspective, it’s great. It loads fast, is beautifully organized, very responsive, and enjoyable. You just have to be ready to close a few pop-ups along the way.

Benefits for existing Scarlet Sands users | 4.5 / 5

Scarlet Sands is jam-packed with offers, but it also has a lot of disingenuous information, like countdowns that don’t mean anything or details hidden behind a purchase wall.

You can roll the dice every 3 hours, spin the Scarlet Wheel every 12 hours, claim daily login rewards, join tournaments, get referral perks, and more:

  • AMOE: 1 SC per eligible postcard (lower than WOW Vegas’ 3 SC or Mega Bonanza’s 4 SC)
  • Social media giveaways: quizzes, puzzles, and challenges for a chance to earn random prizes or promo codes
  • Referral program: 20 SC + 500K GC after your friend spends $19.99
  • VIP Royal Club: it has eight Crown levels, and upgrading unlocks better wheels (up to 50 SC top prize) and coinsback (up to 20%)

Scarlet Sands Casino login bonus

The daily login bonus, called The Daily Blaze, unlocks after you verify your phone. As with the email verification bonus, it nudges you to complete verification while offering something in return, which is a great way to ensure players complete KYC.

The bonus works on a seven-day streak during which you collect rewards starting at 25K GC and 0.10 SC and going up to 500K GC and 0.20 SC. On the seventh day, you also get 10 free plays on Genie’s Chest: Hold ‘N’ Link. Is it as generous as Casino.Click’s up to 5 SC daily bonus? No, but it matches the market average.

Purchase discounts

The best way to take advantage of discounts at Scarlet Sands is to pay attention to the flash deals, and I’ll tell you how to find them. I received many pop-ups for one-time discounts that weren’t listed anywhere else on the site.

I also noticed something else: visiting the coin bundle page and not making a purchase or clicking “buy” and then backing out before completing the payment often triggered a new discounted offer immediately after.

But the real question is: are these flash deals worth it? I’ll let you be the judge of it.

Here are some I saw while testing the site:

  • 77,700 GC for $1.99 plus 7.77 SC free (290% more)
  • 150,000 GC for $2.99 plus 10 SC free (400% more GC, 230% more bonus SC)
  • 144,400 GC for $4.99 plus 14.44 SC free (190% more)
  • 220,000 GC for $9.99 plus 22 SC free (120% more)

Considering the welcome purchase bonuses range from 50% to 100%, I wouldn’t sleep on these flash deals if you’re already considering a purchase.

Will I keep playing at Scarlet Sands?

Yes, I will. It’s honestly one of the platforms I’ve enjoyed playing on the most, and I still have close to 2M GC to play through. The games are plenty and varied, and it’s quite uncommon to find slots with such hefty RTPs at sweepstakes casinos. The promotions are also fun and feel more like little games than the classic reward you get. Of course, I’d like to see improvements in transparency and fewer distractions, but the pros still outweigh the cons.

Scarlet Sands casino game collection | 4 / 5

I was delighted to see a slot collection that balances quantity with quality. There’s an impeccable range of thematics and features, so regardless of your go-to slot, you’ll certainly find multiple options.

The game studios behind the game library include top industry names such as NetGame, BGaming, TaDa, 1spin4win, Betsoft, and Tom Horn. It had been a while since I had the chance to visit some favorite classics while also stumbling upon titles I hadn’t tried before, and that’s a big plus for me.

The sheer number of free slots with RTP above 97% also weighs in favour of Scarlet Sands, but once again, I’d like to see an RTP filter. It’s all good and dandy to have high RTP slots, but if players can’t find them… Here’s a quick list if you want to try them out:

  • Money Coming (97%)
  • Fortune Gems 500 (97.1%)
  • Jackpot Joker Fever (97.06%)
  • Lucky Doggy (97%)
  • Cash the Gold (97.3%)
  • Book of All Ways (97.1%)
  • Divine Queen: Heart of Ice (97%)

The site also has about 40 live dealer tables, but the main focus here is clearly the slots. If you’re a slot enthusiast, you’ll feel right at home. For those who enjoy spicing things up with arcade or fishing games, perhaps Scarlet Sands isn’t for you.

What’s missing from the library?

What’s missing becomes obvious if you compare Scarlet Sands to sites like Casino.Click, where there are instant-win and arcade-style games like Mines, Limbo, Hi-Lo, Plinko, Dice, Lines, and Coins. I also didn’t find any bingo, keno, scratchcards, or fish shooting games.

The same goes for the game providers, though the selection is already strong. At WOW Vegas, for instance, there are titles from NetEnt, Nolimit City, Big Time Gaming, Red Tiger, Hacksaw Gaming, and Evolution (live) that aren’t part of Scarlet’s lineup (at least for now).

Don’t get me wrong, Scarlet Sands delivers when it comes to slots, but it doesn’t offer the same premium range you’ll find at some other platforms.

Customer Support | 3.7 / 5

I always contact customer support to give you a realistic overview. In many cases, I make up an issue, so I have an excuse to reach out. At Scarlet Sands, I genuinely couldn’t find the information I needed on the site and had no choice but to message them with real questions.

The bot didn’t understand my questions and immediately offered to connect me to an agent. Fast and efficient so far, but I hit a wall with their replies. I kept getting template-style responses loosely related to what I asked, but not really. For instance, they told me I had to complete KYC to make a purchase, even though my question was about redemptions. When I insisted, they said I’d see the redemption methods once my account was verified. After another round of pressing and reiterating the information I wanted to know (methods, limits, requirements), I got a somewhat informative answer.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t enjoy having to insist multiple times to get a straight answer, especially when this is basic information players should have access to upfront.

How quickly did I get a response?

The chat warned me about a long queue, but I connected to a real agent in under five minutes. So in terms of speed, no complaints.

But the back-and-forth… I asked a simple question about how many GC I had played through and whether there was a place to see that data. The first response pointed me to the purchase history (not relevant). I had to rephrase and insist multiple times to get a clear answer, which was “we don’t have such a feature”, and which they could have said the first time around.

What are other players saying about Scarlet Sands?

The players’ reviews about Scarlet Sands are unbalanced, at least on Trustpilot. Some players praise the games and the KYC process. Others complain about issues with redemptions and support giving answers that don’t quite match the question (this last one hit close to home).

I also found some complaints about UTech Solutions LLC (the company behind Scarlet Sands) on the Better Business Bureau, many of which were about failed redemptions or account closures after big wins. Are all of these complaints true? They did not reflect my experience. But I would like to see Scarlet Sands address those complaints.

I love all the different chances for coins and sc. I have won a few times. I think, however, lowering the sc redemption would be helpful.

Did I feel safe using the site?

The short answer is: yes.

Firstly, Scarlet Sands uses SSL encryption (ECDSA with SHA-256), and I didn’t experience any indications of data leaks or unsafe behavior. There is also a strong focus on KYC, which shadier platforms tend to overlook. The geolocation restrictions emphasize compliance, which ticks another positive box.

That said, UTech Solutions LLC’s corporate website wasn’t working when I checked; they should get on that immediately.

Scarlet Sands is not available in the following states:

  • CA, CT, DE, ID, LA, MI, MT, NV, NJ, NY, RI, TN, WA, WV & WY

Responsible gaming at Scarlet Sands

As I said a couple of times in this review, Scarlet Sands covers the basics. There are player protection tools like reality checks and purchase limits, which are already more than many platforms offer. It also indicates that players must be at least 18 to join and that the services aren’t available in several states: Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Michigan, Nevada, Connecticut, Delaware, Montana, West Virginia, New York, Louisiana, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Tennessee, and California (GC-only mode there).

Still, I’d like to see more depth not only in responsible gaming, but also in all the topics that make a sweepstakes casino work. I couldn’t find a detailed responsible gaming policy or a list of available support channels for at-risk players. Scarlet Sands feels more reactive than proactive, which is never the right stance to have when it comes to player safety.

What tools and resources does Scarlet Sands offer for responsible play?

The responsible gaming tools are available within the account settings, which is a good start, as many sites still require you to email support to set them up.

You can activate the following from your player account:

  • Reality checks from 10 minutes to 2 hours
  • Purchase limits can be set daily, weekly, or monthly
  • Cool-off period (1, 5, 15, or 30 days)
  • Self-exclusion

My thoughts on Scarlet Sands’ player protection policies

In my opinion, Scarlet Sands does the minimum required, and that’s it.

The tools work, and I could set them up easily, but I’d like to see partnerships with problem gaming helplines or reminders about safer play. Even a couple of links to safer gaming organizations would be better than the nothing that is currently on the site.

The lack of a detailed spin history or total play tracker is also a weakness, in my opinion. Players should be able to clearly see how much they’ve played per game and how much they’ve won or lost over time, even if using virtual currency like Gold Coins.

If you’re still on the fence about Scarlet Sands Casino…

  • The huge slots library is varied enough to never get bored
  • The competitive tournaments add real excitement and prizes in GC and SC
  • The usability is excellent on smartphones, tablets, and computers
  • The flash deals are sneaky, but bring real value if you want to purchase
  • The selection of very high RTP slots is one of a kind
