Who is favored to win 2022 Super Bowl?

NFL futures odds are the place to turn for a real-time answer to that question. Odds come out soon after the last Super Bowl is in the books and stay active from there. Once the NFL regular season is a wrap, odds will be reserved for betting on the NFL Playoffs. Here’s a look at the names currently drawing heat atop the Super Bowl odds board.
packers super bowl odds

Green Bay Packers – Current Super Bowl odds:

Aaron Rodgers has been playing like a man on a mission, while the defense is doing much more than playing second fiddle. As the top seed in the NFC, the Packers can make sure that the road to the Big Game goes through Lambeau Field.

Kansas City Chiefs – Current Super Bowl odds:

After a challenging start to the regular season, the Chiefs got it together and lived up to the preseason hype. The team’s potent offense, led by Patrick Mahomes, and its continually improving defense suggest a third-straight appearance in the Super Bowl is very possible.

Buffalo BillsCurrent Super Bowl odds:

The Bills have had an up-and-down season, but they’re heading into the postseason with some momentum. There’s no denying the amount of talent in Buffalo led by QB Josh Allen. It’s now time to see if the Bills can climb over the hump.

Tampa Bay BuccaneersCurrent Super Bowl odds:

The defending Super Bowl champs are squarely in the mix and a repeat performance would be far from stunning. Tom Brady continues to defy Father Time while the defense has a dangerous mix of opportunism and playoff experience.

Los Angeles RamsCurrent Super Bowl odds:

The Rams are all in on snatching some rings. Anything less than an appearance in the NFC title game will be considered a big disappointment. The conference is loaded at the top, but Los Angeles has a realistic shot of making it to the Big Game.

Tennessee TitansCurrent Super Bowl odds:

The top seed on the AFC side of the bracket is towards the middle of the odds board, but don’t make the mistake of discounting their chances. Derrick Henry will be fresh for what could very easily be a deep postseason run.

Teams with intriguing Super Bowl odds

San Francisco 49ers – Current Super Bowl odds:

Heading into the stretch run, it looked like the 49ers would be one of the more disappointing stories of the season with a missed playoff berth. One turnaround later, this is a club that no one wants to square off with.

Cincinnati Bengals – Current Super Bowl odds:

There was hope that the Bengals would take a leap forward in Joe Burrow’s second year, but few – if any – were expecting an AFC North crown. The club has had several signature wins this season, so the clock may not be striking 12 for a while.

What is the moneyline for Super Bowl 56?

For a bottom line Super Bowl bet, look toward the moneyline. This wager is all about who wins the game, and that’s it. The Super Bowl moneyline odds can move from the initial release right up until kickoff, so be sure to track and be ready to pounce when you see a price that you like.

What is the point spread for Super Bowl 56?

Which side will cover the spread? That’s the game inside the game for NFL bettors as the spread is one of the most popular choices on the betting menu. Once the odds on the Super Bowl come out, the Super Bowl spread will be a hotly debated topic right up until kickoff of the Big Game.

What is the over/under for the Super Bowl?

Every single point means something on the field of play, and the same holds true for NFL over/under bettors. If the Super Bowl happens to be a blowout, there’s still the added drama of where the Super Bowl total will ultimately land.

Best Super Bowl odds boosts and promos

The Super Bowl and promos seem to go hand in hand, and we’re not just talking about the gobs of money that advertisers spend on commercials. Sports bettors can take advantage of a whole host of promotions for Superbowl betting. Among the most common offerings that you’ll come across are:

  • Odds boosts: the chance to earn enhanced returns on select bets
  • Bet insurance: your stake back up to a certain amount if your bet loses
  • Parlay insurance: a refund up to a certain amount if you miss on one leg
  • Special props: special prop betting opportunities off the regular menu

  • Crossovers: bets that tie together the Super Bowl and another sporting event, such as an NBA or NHL game
  • Free to play: games where you can win real money prizes without laying out any cash upfront

On that last point, some operators really go all out. Looking back to last year’s Super Bowl, two of the biggest shops stepped up to the plate with massive free contests.

  • DraftKings Super Bowl Squares: total prize pool of $55,000
  • FanDuel Big Game Bingo: compete for a share of the $100k prize pool

The two sports betting giants are still the leaders in daily fantasy sports as well, so you can check out what’s happening on that side too. For Super Bowl LV, featured offerings included the DraftKings Super Bowl Millionaire and the FanDuel Big Game Bowl.

Super Bowl prop bets

Props are one of the biggest highlights for Super Bowl bettors. For the average NFL game, you’ll find dozens of different options available. When it’s time for the Big Game, the legal online sportsbooks kick things up several notches.

You’ll find all of the standard props you know and love, such as over/unders on yardage for top players and odds for which player will score the game’s first touchdown. The prop menu for the Super Bowl also includes several that are of the entertaining variety.

You can bet on the result of the coin toss or even what color Gatorade gets dumped for celebrating. Most legal books draw the line when it comes to things like the length of the national anthem performance. Check out more details on Super Bowl betting props.

Betting on Super Bowl MVP

Year after year, one of the most popular props is on which player will win the Super Bowl MVP. You’ll find odds for all players with at least a realistic shot. While QBs tend to win, they don’t always. For further insight on what to watch for when betting on Super Bowl MVP odds, you can check out our dedicated page.

What is the Super Bowl alternate line?

Just about everyone knows the main Super Bowl pregame betting line revolves around a trio of top bet types: moneylines, spreads and totals. The fact that there are alternate lines to consider isn’t common knowledge.

NFL BettingAlternate lines provide bettors with different opportunities beyond the standard Super Bowl betting odds. You’ll find different options for the spreads and totals, and the odds will be adjusted based on how much risk you are taking or mitigating.

As an example, heading into last year’s Super Bowl between the Buccaneers and the Chiefs, the latter was a three-point favorite at most books. For those who clicked through the main game listing to see what else was available, there were alternate lines like:

  • Chiefs -2.5
  • Chiefs -2.0
  • Chiefs +3.0
  • Chiefs +1.5
  • Buccaneers +2.5
  • Buccaneers +2.0
  • Buccaneers -3.0
  • Buccaneers -1.5

The same held true with the total, which was set at 56.0 in many spots. In the alternate line markets, there were options for things like 53 or 59 points, as well as extreme deviations such as 45 or 65.

Alternate lines are great for exploring options, but use the odds as a guide. If the potential return looks like it’s too good to be true, then the chances of the bet hitting are fairly slim, so keep that in mind while budgeting and wagering responsibly.

Super Bowl parlay odds

Known as same-game parlays, many of the leading sportsbooks will let you tie together multiple choices from the same contest on a single ticket. Exactly what can be included may vary by sportsbook, but you can generally put together a few solid choices.

For example, let’s say you had a strong feeling about a Bucs win on the moneyline and a Rob Gronkowski touchdown last year. You would’ve cased on that bet. The same holds true for bettors who took Tampa Bay plus the points and the Under on the same slip.

Just like with any other parlay, the more choices you add, the higher the risk climbs, as does the potential return. When considering Super Bowl parlays, be on the lookout for special promotions surrounding the Big Game and other sportsbook features.

Examples include parlay insurance and the early cash-out option. For the insurance, you can get your stake back up to a certain amount if you miss only one leg. The cash-out lets you take some reduced profits early if all your bets are right at that point in time.

In-game, live, micro betting odds on Super Bowl

foxbet colorado sportsbookThe betting action doesn’t have to end once the Super Bowl finally kicks off. Live betting is a featured offering at all of the top legal online sportsbooks. You’ll have plenty of different options to explore as the Big Game plays out.

The market moves really fast with the odds and offerings constantly moving, but mobile apps from the top shops are up to the task. Just log in when the game gets underway and keep your eyes peeled for appealing live betting opportunities. Examples of what you’ll see include:

  • Updated odds for the main pregame bets—moneyline, spread, and totals
  • New player, team, and game prop betting opportunities
  • Bet on smaller segments of the game, like quarters and halves

Live betting on the Super Bowl can really take the entertainment factor to an entirely new level. Winnings are paid out right away, but be careful not to get too swept away in the excitement. Always bet with your head and never over it.

What are the Vegas Super Bowl odds?

Las Vegas’ Super Bowl odds served as the standard for the entire industry for decades. Things change. In the new legal sports betting environment, sportsbooks in the available states are providing bettors with numbers that are right on point.

Due to market action, there’s no way for the numbers to always be exactly the same everywhere. That’s a good thing, as bettors can always take the time to shop around to find the most appealing current Super Bowl odds before placing their bets.

The oddsmakers out in Sin City are still very good at what they do, and you’ll often hear mention of the Vegas Super Bowl odds in the run-up to the Big Game. Just know that you’ll find basically the same numbers much closer to your neck of the woods.

Super Bowl betting odds history

The first AFL-NFL World Championship game took place on Jan. 15, 1967 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The NFL’s Green Bay Packers were favored by 14 points over the AFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. The powerhouse Packers won going away by a score of 35-10.

In the years since, there have been a number of thrilling Super Bowl memories, as well as some games which just didn’t live up to the hype. Regardless of the end result, anticipation is always high for the annual Big Game from both a viewing and betting perspective.

Props and live betting bring in tons of volume, but the biggest points of interest are the pregame bets. Past results are no guarantee of what’s to come in the future, but you can certainly find additional intel by looking back. Here’s the all-time Super Bowl betting history.

  • Moneyline: Favorites 36-18 with one pick’em
  • Point spread: Favorites 28-24-2 with one pick’em
  • Totals: Over 27-27 (No totals line for Super Bowl I)

Favorites have a great track record on the moneyline, but the gap is much closer when the spread is involved. As for totals, it’s basically a coin flip on an all-time basis. All-time trends make for great talking points, but it’s important to look at the bigger picture.

For example, there were a number of lopsided blowouts during the 1980s and 1990s. Since the turn of the century, some Super Bowls have fallen into that category, but many games have ended much closer.

When looking for trends you can use, be sure to put a good deal of weight on recent times. On that note, here’s how the results stack up on the big three pregame wagers for the last decade of Super Bowl results.

  • Moneyline: Favorites 3-6 with one pick’em
  • Point spread: Favorites 3-6 with one pick’em
  • Totals: Over 5-5

Underdogs have had a pretty good run in the Super Bowl in recent times. Interestingly, the moneyline and spread results are equal, which tells us that when favorites win, they’re likely to cover the spread as well. The over/under remains a toss-up over the past 10 years.

If we drill down even further into the past five years, favorites are 3-2 straight-up and ATS. Once again, each time the favorite has won outright, they’ve also covered. As for totals, the Under leads 3-2 and has swept the last three Super Bowls.

In recent years, if you like the favorite to win the game, trends say that they’ll cover as well. As for those betting on the underdog plus the points, it would have been wise to place a wager on that side’s moneyline as well.

Super Bowl results

The most recent edition of the Super Bowl took place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on February 7, 2021. Super Bowl LV was a meeting of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

nfl super bowl bettingHeading into the season, the Chiefs were favored to get to the Big Game, while the Bucs were among the intriguing contenders to watch on the NFC side. Kansas City took care of business in the NFL Playoffs as the top seed on the AFC side of the bracket.

Tampa Bay had to go the Wild Card route and win three straight road games to make it to the dance. Tom Brady and company made it happen. Once the Super Bowl matchup was official, oddsmakers installed the Chiefs as three-point favorites.

During the run-up to the game, it would move as high as 3.5 points in favor of the Chiefs in some spots, so that was a great time for Bucs bettors to pounce. The spread settled back at its original number at kickoff with the total at 56 points, down from the original number of 57.5.

While most observers expected a shootout as two elite QBs in Brady and Patrick Mahomes dueled, the game broke differently. Brady did his part, but the Bucs defense surprised and effectively shut down the Chiefs.

The final score was 31-9. Bettors who took Tampa Bay plus the points—or to pull the outright upset on the moneyline—and the Under walked away happy. For bettors, there were opportunities to strike at different price points after the initial release of lines.

Be sure to keep that in mind as you get set to bet on the Super Bowl this time around. If you like the betting odds for the Super Bowl when they come out and are ready to wager, go ahead and place your bets before the numbers move.

For those who prefer to wait, keep an eye on the odds board and be ready to go when the number you’ve been waiting for comes up. That said, keep in mind that it may not get to exactly where you want, so be prepared to adjust accordingly.

As we look ahead to Super Bowl LVI, you’ll hear plenty of talk about trends and what usually goes down in the Big Game. Here’s your own handy cheat sheet of all-time Super Bowl betting results.
